Supervision Guidelines for Bouncy Castles & Inflatables

At A&S Entertainments Ltd, safety’s a big deal to us. We want your event to run smoothly—and that means making sure everyone knows how to use our inflatables safely, especially if you're keeping an eye on things yourself.

This isn’t about being over-the-top or legal-heavy—it’s just common-sense advice to make sure no one gets hurt and your day stays stress-free.

1. Someone’s Got to Be Watching

You need to have an adult (18 or over) supervising the inflatable at all times.

That person should be able to keep the kids under control, step in if needed, and generally be paying attention.

Don’t leave the castle unattended—not even for a minute.

2. How Many Adults You’ll Need

Here’s what we recommend:

  • Ages 2–5: 1 adult for every 4 kids

  • Ages 6–8: 1 adult for every 6 kids

  • Ages 9–12: 1 adult for every 8 kids

Try not to let older and younger kids bounce at the same time—especially if there’s a big age gap (30 months or more).

3. What the Supervisor Needs to Watch Out For

  • No food, drink, confetti, face paint, chewing gum, or sharp bits on the inflatable.

  • Make sure kids take off shoes, glasses, and anything else that might hurt them or damage the castle.

  • Stop any climbing on the walls, pushing, wrestling or crowding.

  • Keep an eye on how many kids are on at once. Too many’s never a good idea.

4. Bad Weather = Stop Bouncing

If it starts pouring or gets too windy (24mph or more), shut it down. Safety first.

Deflate the inflatable right away—don’t wait.

Once the weather calms down, dry it off before letting anyone back on. A weather app or the Met Office site is handy for keeping track.

5. If Something Goes Wrong

  • Have a first aid kit nearby just in case.

  • Keep a charged mobile close—you’ll need it to call us or emergency services if anything serious happens.

Not sure what to do? Ring us. That’s what we’re here for.
